I have two cameras that I use: a Pentax Optio W90 and a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70. They are both fairly simple and inexpensive cameras. The Pentax is water resistant, and suitable for taking with me on the boat or kayak. The Panasonic has a lens that zooms from 20mm to 1200mm (in 35mm equivalent terms). This makes it quite versatile for a wide variety of photographic situations. It also has features that allow some (limited) control over aperture, shutter speed, white balance, and other photographic parameters. Both cameras have video modes, as well. My favorite photographic accessory is my Gitzo GK1580TQR5 Series 1 Traveler 6x Carbon Fiber Tripod with Magnesium Center Ball Head.
The Florida Keys provide an abundance of interesting photographic opportunities. There is a unique mix of subtropical plants, animals, scenery, and activities that are unlike anywhere else. From the myriad creatures under the sea to the wide variety of birds and airplanes in the skies, and all of the terrestrial beings in between, there is never a lack of interesting photographic subjects.
